New Gemeinhardt 33OSB-J1 OPEN HOLE Flute Offset G low B foot solid silver body. This professional flute is hand assembled and finished by experienced artisans dedicated to creating instruments of incomparable quality and enduring beauty. All professional models feature a unique Gemeinhardt pointed pad cup design. And a heavier crown. Includes Case with Case Cover. The Gemeinhardt story begins with Kurt Gemeinhardt. A fourth generation flute maker. He was born in Markneukirchen. A region with two centuries of instrument making tradition. And served an apprenticeship under his father. Upon completion of his apprenticeship. Kurt left Germany to work his trade. Where he crafted handmade flutes for the world’s most prestigious musicians. While in Switzerland his fame as the foremost creator. Of quality hand-crafted musical instruments spread worldwide. Kurt Gemeinhardt was persuaded to travel to America. To create instruments in Elkhart, Indiana. After twenty years of developing flutes for others. Kurt opened his own manufacturing plant. Where every instrument since has been engraved with the Gemeinhardt name. Kurt’s vision was to produce a limited quantity. Of professional all-silver flutes. But demand for his unique flutes increased. The original 20- by 40-foot Gemeinhardt factory. Was replaced in 1951 with a new plant. Designed by Kurt himself. To meet new manufacturing needs. By this time the Gemeinhardt line expanded. To include mid-priced flutes. Soon followed by the introduction of entry-level flutes. Gemeinhardt’s newest expansion occurred in September 1997. With the acquisition of Roy Seaman Piccolo Company. Roy Seaman manufactures handcrafted, grenadilla wood piccolos. This legendary name is known worldwide for professional quality instruments. Through growth and product demand. Gemeinhardt emerged as the music industry’s. Manufactures flutes and piccolos. For all levels of musicians. Ranging from student to professional. With the advancement of technology. Sophisticated machinery enables a level of precision. And consistency that was once uncontrollable. But, it is the human touch that properly fits. And regulates each flute to reach. Optimum sound quality and harmonization. Here at Gemeinhardt Musical Instruments. We globally manufacture our instruments. And efficiencies of our factories in the U. For example, many of the key components are produced in all three countries. The C flute head joints, and all of our piccolos are made in the U. The flute final assembly is done in Taiwan and China. We also do a final quality check in the U. Today, the Gemeinhardt Company provides a wide range of instruments. For the student to the professional. As the Gemeinhardt family did for four generations. The artisans at Gemeinhardt and our worldwide partners. Passing on the time honored art of musical instrument making. From generation to generation. Taking great pride in placing the Gemeinhardt name on every instrument. I ordered it, and it came about 1 in a half weeks, it was spotless and beautiful! It came with a case and cleaning glove, and intructions! When ever I get another. This is the place ill go! Love the Gemeinhardt company my favorite! It works perfectly for the price. An amazing sound comes out of it, though this is for experienced players because of the open holes. I know that I wanted a review before I bought this flute, and I’m here to give you one. First, a little background: I have been playing the flute for seven years, was first chair flute, etc. This is not my first Gemeinhardt. I started playing on a 20 year old Gemeinhardt, transferred to a Yamaha. My band teacher lent me a Yamaha open tone hole flute for about a year, so I have something to compare to. Now, I went back to Gemeinhardt. I’ve had this flute about six months. The flute itself isn’t heavy, but it doesn’t seem too delicate. It it exceptional for the price. The tone is good, and the keys are responsive. It’s not hard to get sound out of, although someone with less playing experience might be frustrated by the open keys. In comparison with the Yamaha, both were good flutes, but I liked this one much better. The key’s response was so much better than the Yamaha’s. When playing fast passages, the response time is worth it. I would recommend this flute for anyone with more than two years playing experience, but anyone looking for a good step up flute wouldn’t go wrong with this one. One of Gemeinhardt’s most popular flutes. Flute features Gemeinhardt’s exclusive four-post foot joint construction for especially strong flutes, as well as a unique embouchure hole design, proportioned tone holes, and pad cups to ensure even response and extraordinary tone throughout all registers. It also includes a case, and a cleaning rod. A fourth generation flutemaker, Kurt Gemeinhardt dedicated himself to creating responsive instruments with a beautiful tone which would distinguish them from all others. Today Gemeinhardt continues his legacy by crafting flutes that achieve a delicate balance between superb artistry and sophisticated technology for flutists of all talents and abilities Durably constructed of the finest materials, Gemeinhardt flutes feature integrally drawn and rolled tone holes, power-coined keys, and an exclusive four post footjoint construction which make our flutes exceptionally strong. Other features include Gemeinhardt’s unique embouchure hole design, proportioned tone holes and pad cups to ensure even response and extraordinary tone throughout all registers. In addition, a Gizmo key (high C facilitator) is standard on every B foot model flute. Gemeinhardt flutes also feature superior key mechanisms for fast action and outstanding playability. Body and Foot Material. Key Style (Open Hole). I worked at William S. Haynes company in Boston in 1980. I learned flute making and repairing. My job was to solder the tone holes on the flute body. That was a very difficult job because it had to be perfect within. 1/1000 of an inch otherwise the intonation would be off. Their best quality was the design of the embouchure hole. On the head joint. I have been playing flute since 1970. That This is the only flute. That has the same sound as the Haynes Flutes. I have been playing professionally for 35 years. And I have played thousands of different flutes. This is the only flute I take on a gig to play anywhere I travel. My most impressive gig was for former. President Bill Clinton in Boston. We service everything that we sell. I have been playing sax, clarinet, and flute since 1951. I have been repairing instruments since 1978. My most memorable major concert. Was for a host of pretty impressive guests. When he was in. For a fund-raising event for. This item is in stock now. After you place your order. This is brand-new, never played. Undamaged item in its original factory packaging. Packaging is the same as what is found in a retail store. HERE IS MY BIO. I started playing clarinet in 1951. I learned from Mr. A symphony orchestra conductor, from Germany. I started playing saxophone in 1952. I joined a classical symphony orchestra. I started playing flute in 1970. With Big Band conductor. Gerald Cooper at Berkley College of Music. I had my own band in 1980 called Dominics Music. We played old standards and pop tunes. Like Beatles, Bob Dylan, Neil Young etc. We did weddings, private parties and night clubs. In and around the Boston area. The last band I was with is called. IN THE MIDNIGHT HOUR. We played all classic rock music. Their best gig was at the Hatch Shell in Boston. My last major concert was for a host of. While he was still in office. I Played in the 22-piece John Payne saxophone. Choir at the Park Plaza Castle in Boston. Security was so tight. The secret service did background checks on each musician. And we had to leave our instruments at the door. To be searched by white house staff. Before we could enter the building. As soon as we started playing. President Clinton pointed to us and yelled. I love that band. All return must be made within 14 days of receiving the item. With Yamaha cork grease BECAUSE OF THE OVERWHELMING DEMAND FOR THESE FLUTES. WE ARE SWAMPED WITH ORDERS. Kurt Gemeinhardt dedicated himself to creating remarkably responsive instruments with a beautiful tone that would distinguish them from all others. Today, Gemeinhardt continues his legacy by incorporating the craftsmanship of the past with today’s sophisticated technology to create flutes that are as artful as they are advanced. An instrument of pride for flutists of all talents and abilities. A preference you’ll understand once you play any one of their remarkable instruments. Professional Features of the 3OSB-NG1 The New Generation has arrived! The old 3OSB is obsolete, the 3OSB-NG1 is the new design. The 3OSB-NG1 is Gemeinhardt’s flagship pre-professional flute. With new professional quality construction and design, including the ground-breaking new NG1 headjoint, the 3OSB-NG1 raises the bar of what an intermediate flute can be for you. With a tone and design that rivals flutes costing 3 times as much, the 3OSB-NG1 will give you an unfair advantage! Compare this flute to a new Yamaha YFL-461, the competitor’s equivalent. In a blind playtest, I’ve never seen anyone prefer a new Yamaha YFL-461 over a new Gemeinhardt 3OSB-NG1. Remember, this is the NEW Gemeinhardt, not the old obsolete Gemeinhardts you might have tried before! Beauty and Elegance The special-shaped lip plate on the NG1 headjoint provides clear tone and fastest articulation. It’s a new design that is totally unique! Offset G keys are more ergonomic and comfortable for you to hold, and are gaining popularity among students and professionals. This configuration adds strength and durability to your flute’s mechanism. The elegant French leather case and designer case cover carries your flute in style and safety. The case cover keeps the flute warm, and the shoulder strap makes it easy for you to carry. Also known as an open hole flute, the French model flute has venting holes on the A, G, F, E, and D keys. B footjoint: A footjoint that extends the length of the flute and adds one more key, thus allowing the instrument to reach down to low B-natural below middle C. The B footjoint is a standard choice on many step-up and professional instruments, especially when playing contemporary compositions that utilize an extended range. It also improves the tone. Offset G: Offset G keys are mounted at a slightly different angle on their own posts. Many flute players consider offset G to be a more comfortable alternative than inline G. It does not change the sound. Gizmo key: Also known as a high C facilitator. When pressed, this key helps the player produce a clearer C-natural in the fourth octave. Think you know Gemeinhardt? Kurt Gemeinhardt dedicated himself to creating remarkably responsive instruments with a beautiful tone that would distinguish them from all others. Today, Gemeinhardt continues his legacy by incorporating the craftsmanship of the past with today’s sophisticated technology to create flutes that are as artful as they are advanced. An instrument of pride for flutists of all talents and abilities. A preference you’ll understand once you play any one of their remarkable instruments. Professional Features of the 3SHB The model 3SHB offers the resonance and tone quality of a solid silver headjoint combined with the French key mechanism (open holes) often requested on an intermediate student instrument. The 3SHB offers specifications most teachers recommend for a step-up flute. With open holes, referred to as a French key mechanism, and a B footjoint, the model 3SHB flute is one of the most popular step-up flutes offered today. The B footjoint creates a longer tube allowing a greater resonance in the flute, as well as providing advancing flutists opportunities to utilize alternate fingerings for greater facility in the upper register. Open holes provide better tone and the ability for advanced students to learn alternate fingerings, multiphonics, quarter-tones, and other extended techniques used in contemporary and avant-garde music. Compare this flute to a new Yamaha YFL-381, the competitor’s equivalent. In a blind playtest, I’ve never seen anyone prefer the Yamaha YFL-381 over the Gemeinhardt 3SHB. But remember, this is the new Gemeinhardt, not the old obsolete Gemeinhardts that you might have tried or heard about! Beauty and Elegance Inline G keys offer the traditional sleek look of a French model flute and have been the standard design for hundreds of years. The elegant French case and nylon case cover carries your flute in style and safety. Gizmo key: Also known as a high C facilitator. When depressed, this key helps the player produce a clearer C-natural in the fourth octave. Think you know Gemeinhardt? Gemeinhardt has completely reinvented itself. If you haven’t played a brand new Gemeinhardt this year, try one! After a stagnant decade of being owned by investment bankers, Gemeinhardt is back in the hands of. They have completely redesigned their flutes and they are better than ever. The world’s most popular brand of flutes once again receives a recommendation from Rich Lupo Flutes and Piccolos. The components of a Gemeinhardt flute are made in the USA. The headjoint, body, footjoint, and keys are. Made in Elkhart, Indiana USA. The parts are sent to Gemeinhardt’s parent company overseas where they are assembled, then sent back to Elkhart for testing and adjustments. Gemeinhardt says they can make the parts better in their own USA shop than anywhere else. American-Made parts are stronger and higher quality, and create jobs for Americans! 2 years of free repairs and maintenance from Rich Lupo Flutes and Piccolos. Even covers accidental damage. We are an Authorized Gemeinhardt Dealer. Every flute, even brand new, needs professional testing and set-up. The final stage of quality control is the dealer. You don’t want a flute straight from the factory, you want a flute that has been carefully checked over and tweaked for maximum performance by a professional flutist. We’re not some giant warehouse that imports flutes on trucks and ships them out on conveyor belts. We are a flute shop. We test and customize each and every flute that goes out our doors, to make sure it is perfect for our customer. We tweak and refine each flute, making all necessary adjustments, evening the spring tension, oiling, fitting the joints better, tuning, etc. All to make the factory made flute play and feel like a fine handmade flute. A few hours of attention makes all the difference! T do in a warehouse. So quiz your dealer. Find out if they actually know anything about flutes! Ask them which Bb fingering is their favorite. Which orchestras have they soloed with? Where did they study? Would you even believe a word they said? Rich Lupo Flutes and Piccolos.
